My name is Steve Lowman and the love for cars has always been a major part of who I am. From a young age I needed to know how something worked and could I make it better.
As time went on, I realized that being a mechanic was my path in life, joining the Army in 1993 I became a helicopter mechanic in the 82nd Airborne, this solidified my passion. I still serve in the National Guard today working on both Blackhawks and Apaches. Along the way I went to college to learn design and engineering. Then moved into professional racing and spent almost 12 years learning and perfecting my trade. I have served as a car builder and Crew Chief racing all over the world in the ALMS, Grand Am, Formula Atlantic and Weather Tech Sports Car series "road endurance racing''. Racing and winning multiple championships as well as competing and winning in both the 24hrs of Daytona and 24hrs of La Mans in France multiple times.
In The Beginning...
In the beginning this was a hobby that I did when not working on helicopters or race cars. Over time I realized that this is what I wanted to do. I searched out knowledge which led me to both attend and eventually teach at Wyotech. As a chassis fabrication and high- performance engine instructor for 2 years before leaving to manage a chassis dyno business. After that I appeared on Chip Foose's show "Overhaulin" as a fabricator/mechanic. Eventually racing called my name and I started my carrier in professional road racing in 2005 where I stayed for 12 years.

We have a proud history of work excellence and customer service. The cars we build are not just what we do but an extension of who we are . Our passion for cars is what drives us. We have two full time mechanics working at Metal and Muscle, "Frank and Gunnar" both with an extensive background in professional racing. Bringing that knowledge and attention to detail to the custom car world is one of the many things that sets us apart from other shops.
